The Coca-Cola Company has teamed up with Italian clothing brand, Diesel, to introduce a new clothing line made from recycled plastics. The (Re)Collection line uses recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) fibres from plastic Coca-Cola bottles. The collection combines Diesel’s casualwear aesthetic with Coca-Cola’s branding and iconicity.
The aim of the collaboration is to raise awareness of the value of recycling plastic waste. This is achieved through the production of wearable clothing made from recycled plastics and other waste materials, such as cotton and denim.
The (Re)Collection line consists of 12 casualwear clothing items that can be worn all-year-round. The denim pieces include a unisex workwear jacket with red stitching and the Coca-Cola logo printed on the back. The collection also includes denim workwear pants, cotton shorts, shirts, hoodies and tracksuits.
Recycled clothing line launched in Paris
The Diesel x Coca-Cola clothing line is being rolled out worldwide after the global launch at the Paris Fashion Week. The launch event was closely followed by a series of collateral launches in London, Berlin, Milan, Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing, Amsterdam, New York and a few other major cities from around the world.
“We are excited to partner with Diesel on this collection. Not only does The (Re)Collection generate awareness of the importance of recycling in a very approachable way – by showcasing beautiful fashions created from recycled materials – it’s also a collection that celebrates individuality,” says Michelle Moorehead, the vice president of global licensing and retail for The Coca-Cola Company.
“The (Re)Collection is a collaboration between two authentic and iconic brands that are both committed to more responsible business. Inspired by our vision of the future, we are collaborating with Coca-Cola to explore new methods of creating fabrics, whilst challenging ourselves to incorporate recycled materials in our collections,” explains Diesel founder Renzo Rosso.
The clothing line will be available worldwide at Diesel stores and from the Diesel e-commerce site. This collaboration represents a global shift towards sustainability and responsible retail practices. It not only creates viable end-markets for recycled products, but it also encourages consumers to recycle their waste and purchase recycled products.
